Rome. Synonymous with romance, it’s all in the name. As one local explained to me – if you reverse the word ‘Roma’ (the Italian word for Rome) you get ‘Amor’ – meaning love. Which is something that resonates throughout the entire city.

With a mass of exquisitely designed churches, Santa Maria del Popolo houses two of Caravaggio’s greatest works of art and allegedly Nero’s remains; while St Peter’s Basilica stands guard over the Vatican, with Michelangelo’s magnificent dome presiding over the Pope’s legendary city.
